Briggs and Stratton
Briggs & Stratton has been a very valuable customer since 1995. H.A. Sack has built new facilities for them, as well as disconnected and relocated machining cells and die cast machines, completed several large concrete projects, and installed new equipment for them.
Equipment Disconnection, Relocation, & Reinstallation:
Machining Cells:
In 1996, we began relocating machining cells. This project lasted for three years. We flew a crew of millwrights and electricians up to Briggs & Stratton's Milwaukee plant and disconnected, tagged, and on occasion, loaded out the machines and shipped them to the new facilities in Statesboro and Auburn. Once the machines arrived on-site, we offloaded, moved, set, leveled, and aligned them. We reconnected the hydraulic units and all control panels, installed the electrical and mechanical services to each machine, and assisted with start-up.
This job proved to be a win-win for Briggs & Stratton and SCM, Inc. We worked hand-in-hand with their engineering staff, which made the project a complete success. We always made the start-up date. This was attributed to good planning by both entities and the tireless efforts of all.
18 Die Cast Machines:
We received, offloaded, and moved 18 die cast machines, injection molding machines used to build the aluminum blocks and cylinders heads, in to their permanent location. The machines averaged in weight from 120,000 pounds up to 180,000 pounds. After we set, leveled, and aligned the machines, we installed all the required electrical and mechanical services and assisted with start-up.
