Machinery Relocation from Statesboro, Georgia to Chihuahua, Mexico

This move was accomplished in two phases. The first and second phases included labeling, disconnecting, moving, and loading several large milling and CNC machines and shipping these machines to a new facility located in Chihuahua, Mexico.

This move required several days of pre-planning to list every piece of equipment with the correct information; a complete list of all tooling and extra parts was required by customs for shipping across the Mexican border. We also placed a man at the border to answer any potential questions or to make any necessary changes to expedite the shipments. By doing the pre-planning and paying attention to the small details, we did not encounter any problems with crossing the border.

We began our disconnection at the Statesboro, Georgia facility by removing the hydraulic fluids, tagging, labeling, and disconnecting all electrical controls and electrical and mechanical services. As the machines were disconnected, we had our crew of millwrights rigging and moving the machines to a wash down bay where we cleaned the machines of all oils, fluids, and chips. The machines were dried and sprayed with a rust inhibitor to ensure they would not rust during transit to Mexico. The large machines were loaded on to trucks and covered to protect them from the elements during shipment to the Chihuahua, Mexico facility.

As the machines arrived, we rigged, offloaded, and moved the machines in to position. Our responsibility once the machines were permanently placed was to do a rough level and alignment and anchor where required and connect all the required electrical and mechanical services to each machine from the building services. All control cabinets and hydraulic units were reinstalled, wired, re-piped, and filled with fluids. A factory representative was brought in to do the final set-up and start-up. We assisted with the start-up and checkout of each of the machines.
