The Sack Company performed the HVAC systems installation for the Sumter Regional Hospital addition and renovation project in Americus, Georgia. The project consisted of a 90,000 square foot addition and 60,000 square feet of renovated space. The mechanical systems installation included adding one, 475-ton water-cooled chiller and one, two-cell cooling tower with a capacity of 875 tons.
Two 200-hp steam boilers were replaced to provide steam to humidifiers and sterilizers and to the heat exchanger for heating water.
The hydronic piping is welded connections, and the chilled water piping is through a primary-secondary distribution system. Additional piping systems included the installation of two underground fuel oil tanks with piping to emergency generators and boilers. The air distribution includes a total of 12 air handlers and is a combination of variable and constant volume with terminal reheat.
