Project Profile: Viracon
Building Services and Machinery Installation, Statesboro, Georgia
Viracon is a manufacturer of architectural glass with corporate headquarters located in Owatonna, Minnesota. In 1998, Statesboro, Georgia was selected to be the location for a new 400,000 square foot facility. H.A. Sack was actively involved with this company during their planning stages and during the construction of their new facility. We assisted with the installation of their production equipment, installation of the required electrical and mechanical services for each
of their machines and applications, and finally with start-up of the facility. During construction of the building and before any of the production equipment arrived on-site, we began the installation of the required process systems, such as chilled water supply and return piping; high pressure air piping, including air receivers, air compressors, and air dryers; domestic water lines; platforms; and stairways, plus several sheet metal projects.
Testimonial:
"Sack's project managers have exhibited the utmost in reliability, professionalism, and know-how. Their staff of electricians, millwrights, and others have provided us with good workmanship on every project...
I give my endorsement to The Sack Company as a top rate industrial service and contracting company."

AUTOCLAVES INSTALLATION:
After the mechanical services were completed, we installed two, 80,000 pound Autoclaves, which we received, offloaded, and installed in a pit in the middle of the plant. Once the claves were set, leveled, and shimmed, we piped in and connected the high pressure air and chilled water and installed a vacuum pump system and condensate system for each clave, including all pipe, valves, and fittings for each system. To complete the project, we fabricated and installed a deck with handrails for safe access to the claves and fabricated and installed hydraulic lift gates for loading and unloading the claves with product.
TEMPERING, LISEC, AND COATER LINES:
Other lines we installed were two Tempering lines for tempering the glass; a Washer line; a Coater line, which coats one side of the glass with paint; a Lisec line; and an Insulated Glass line. The Tempering line has a large ventilation and exhaust system, which requires the utilization of a helicopter, so the roof top fans could be placed on the middle of the roof. We also installed numerous small overhead cranes along with necessary support steel.
